Next week the trial of Vince Li, the man who killed Tim McLean on a Greyhound bus in July 2008, begins in Winnipeg. There is a chance Li will be found not criminally responsible for his crime and be sent to a hospital for an undetermined amount of time, with the possibility of being released without any minimum sentence.
Tim’s mother, Carol de Delley, has been fighting for a new law ever since her son’s death — ‘Tim’s Law’ as it’s been dubbed. The law would make sure there are consequences and a minimum sentence if you voluntary take an innocent life, whether you’re found criminally responsible or not.
On Friday, February 27 at noon, the family is holding a vigil for Tim McLean inside Brandon’s City Hall, 410 9th Street.
Tim’s Law buttons and t-shirts will be available for sale and candles will be supplied.
To get involved and show your support for Tim’s Law, you can send an e-mail to Tims.Law@shaw.ca
ChrisD.ca will be there Friday afternoon in support of the McLean family, but will not be providing any additional coverage from the vigil.
