A family is devastated after losing their home and possessions this week in a fire that ravaged multiple trailers at the Downs Village near Assiniboia Downs.
Melissa and Jeff McConnell, and their children Kiefer McConnell, six months, and Maddison Moniz, four, are currently staying in a hotel. Baby Kiefer was born with a cleft lip. He has already had a hernia repaired and also underwent heart surgery in February.
The family lost everything and could use your help. They have insurance, but not enough for what they need, said family friend Brianna Johal.
Johal has started a Facebook group that shows photos the fire caused and also creates a means to contact her to send donations. People can also e-mail her at briannablaire@yahoo.ca.
A Melissa Moniz Trust Fund has also been set up at Scotiabank branches. “I’m taking everything from towels and baby receiving blankets, to toiletries, baby needs, beds and furniture,” said Johal.
