The City of Winnipeg is urging residents put on alert by flood waters to take ice jams seriously.

50 homeowners have been asked to raise their dikes by a foot. 30 more homeowners have been asked to begin sandbagging.

City flood experts will be out today surveying the river and ice levels from the air.

If your property is at risk, you can pick up sandbags for free at three locations throughout the city.
