In an effort to assist property owners at-risk of river flooding, the City of Winnipeg has activated the volunteer component of its Emergency Plan.

At this time, a small number of property owners require assistance in their sandbagging efforts.

With some property owners being notified today of the requirement to raise their sandbag dike elevation, it is anticipated the need for volunteers will increase in the coming days, with an emphasis on sandbagging efforts Thursday through Saturday.

Citizens wishing to assist sandbagging efforts are asked to email their name, telephone number, and times of availability to 311@winnipeg.ca or call 311 for more information on volunteer registration.

Once property owners have made arrangements for sandbag delivery, they are asked to call or email 311 (311@winnipeg.ca) to request volunteer assistance if required.

As the need for volunteers increases, up-to-date information will be available on EmergWeb (Winnipeg.ca/emergweb).
