Winnipeg Goldeyes manager Rick Forney announced Tuesday the signing of outfielders Dee Brown (left) and Cory Patton (right). There are now 22 players on the pre-season roster, 10 of whom are position players.
Brown, 26, arrives following four seasons in the Washington system. A two-sport star at NCAA Div. I Central Florida, he batted a team-high .296 last year as Potomac won the Carolina (A+) League title.
Patton, 26, arrives following four seasons as Toronto property. Owner of the top batting average in the Blue Jays system, he earned Florida State (A+) League all-star honours last year after leading Dunedin to a regular season title.
The duo joins four infielders, two catchers, an equal number of outfielders and 12 pitchers on the roster. Training camp opens May 1 at Canwest Park.
