Goldeyes Make Multi-Player Trade for 2009 Season

Winnipeg GoldeyesThe Winnipeg Goldeyes announced some changes to their 2009 lineup Wednesday afternoon.

Manager Rick Forney dealt the rights to four players to a pair of American Association clubs. In the first deal, the rights to Brandon Kintzler and catcher Jeff DeSmidt went to St. Paul. At the same time, the rights to infielder Antoin Gray and pitcher Aaron Jackson were sent to Pensacola.

In return, the Goldeyes received infielder Brandon Sing from Pensacola. St. Paul concluded the three-team deal by sending the playing rights to infielder Jimmy Mojica to Pensacola.

Sing, 28, is a veteran right-handed stick with more than 350 games at the AA and AAA levels. He had a huge season last year with the Pelicans, hitting .278 while leading the league with 22 home runs and 86 runs batted in.

Training camp opens May 1 at Canwest Park.
