CKX-TV in Brandon has been saved! The western Manitoba television station was put up for sale by CTV in February and the battle to save it has been on ever since.

The new owner is Shaw Communications, who will also take over two other stations from CTV, including its ‘A’ stations in Wingham and Windsor, Ontario.

Each station was purchased for $1. You read that correctly.

“Good for them. I’m sure they will live up to the existing conditions of licence placed on these stations which is wonderful news for the employees and for the people of Windsor, Wingham and Brandon,” said Ivan Fecan, President and CEO, CTVglobemedia, and CEO, CTV.

You can bet the people of Brandon are ecstatic with this news. CKX-TV is the only local television station in the area. Major props to Shaw for stepping in like that.
