A concert to aid Manitoba flood victims will take place a week today on Wednesday, May 13 at the MTS Centre.
Rise Again 2009: The Red Cross Manitoba Flood Relief Concert, will be spearheaded by Tom Jackson, but will also feature a number of celebrated performers lending their time and talent to a heartfelt cause.
The show will feature musical styles from Celtic to French Canadian/Jazz, R&B, Roots, Rock and Country, the line-up includes: Tom Cochrane, Deborah Cox, JD Fortune, Nathan, One More Girl, Moses Mayes, Bet.e, The Barra MacNeils and more.
“I currently live in Alberta,” says Jackson, “and as much as I think Alberta is wonderful, my heart is in Manitoba: my history is in Manitoba. As I have been blessed with the gift to help others, I feel a pride and responsibility to help my family and friends—literally and figuratively—when the need calls.”
Rise Again 2009 will be televised on APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network) and CBC. Dates for broadcast will be announced at a later date.
Tickets for Rise Again 2009: The Red Cross Manitoba Flood Relief Concert are $20 and available through Ticketmaster. Donations will also be accepted by phone and online during and after the telecasts and the radio broadcast.
