New Radio Station Hitting Winnipeg Airwaves Soon

May 12, 2009 8:20 AM | News

Jewel RadioA new FM radio station was approved for air in Winnipeg on Friday at ERP 40,000 watts. According to the approval notice, the call letters are CFJL and will be called Jewel 106.1 FM under the ownership of Evanov Communications.

The Jewel brand isn’t anything new, there are already three other stations in Canada that carry it, including in Toronto, Ottawa and Hawkesbury.

JewelRadio.com advertises the format as lite favourites, “the greatest hits of all time.”

Besides the Jewel stations, Evanov also operates Z103.5 FM in Halifax and Toronto/Orangeville, as well as AM 530 Brampton/Toronto.

Looks like 102.3 Clear FM has some competition coming their way. No word as to when the new station will officially launch.
