GM Delivers Grim News to Manitoba Dealerships

GM DealershipA 70-year-old Manitoba auto dealer was the first victim of the GM axe that came down on Wednesday, ChrisD.ca has learned.

Gillis Garage in Elie received notice that their dealership will cease to exist by October 2010.

General Motors is closing 245 dealerships across Canada to cut costs.

UPDATE: 9:45 a.m. — Several other Manitoba dealers are also affected, including Birchwood Pontiac GMC (Winnipeg), Park Pontiac (Winnipeg), Brodeur Brothers (St. Adolphe), Parkwood Motors (Erickson), Rosenort Motors (Rosenort) and Fowler Pontiac Buick GMC (Brandon).
