Students from 19 local high schools will take part in the United Way of Winnipeg’s 4th Annual Youth Day of Caring this morning.
More than 170 students will work alongside staff and volunteers from 11 United Way agency partners to complete two community cleanup initiatives. The cleanups will take place in the William Whyte and Point Douglas neighbourhoods and 10 additional projects ranging from organizing supplies to washing windows and gardening will also be underway.
Youth Day for Caring kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at St. John’s Leisure Centre (601 Aikins Street), with a wrap up celebration planned back at the centre with Ace Burpee from Hot 103 at around 3:45 p.m.
The United Way says this year sets an all time record for participation.
