CBCContinuing with another round of layoffs, CBC announced on Friday that it would be letting up to 180 more employees go next week.

The company will be targeting its English-language service as the area to make cuts, the public broadcaster said.

About 100 employees have applied for voluntary retirement, but not all of them will be accepted.

No word yet on which stations will be affected specifically, but the CBC still needs to make up a shortfall of $85 million.

Layoff notices will be issued May 27 and 28.

We’ll keep you updated on any Winnipeg layoffs.
