Winnipeg GoldeyesThe Winnipeg Goldeyes have reduced their roster by two players since their win last night against Gary.

Manager Rick Forney announced this morning the release of of left-handed pitcher Matt Spade. Meanwhile, right-handed pitcher Chris Homer was placed on the Inactive List. The moves reduce Winnipeg’s roster to 20, two shy of the league maximum.

Spade was on the club’s Disabled List since May 12 and hadn’t seen any action this season. Homer travelled with the team to Joliet last night and will return home to Pennsylvania from there for personal reasons. He has been one of the team’s best arms so far, tossing five-plus innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen while posting a club-low .105 opposition average.

Following three games with the last-place JackHammers, the first-place Goldeyes head to Kansas City for four games with the second-place T-Bones. From there, they return to Canwest Park next Friday to open a seven-game homestand.
