Walk for ALSThe 2009 Walk for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) takes place this Saturday, June 6 at Assiniboine Park.

The walk raises money and awareness for ALS research and services to support those living with ALS and their families. The disease affects between 2,500 and 3,000 Canadians, 190 to 200 of which live right here in Manitoba.

Last year’s walk raised over $2.2 million between all 60 communities that took part.

Participants will begin in the Central Picnic Area of the park at 9 a.m. for registration, with the walk getting underway at 10 a.m. The Walk for ALS is a family and pet (on leash) friendly event that includes clowns, face painters and much more.
