Flu MaskManitoba Health is reporting a surge in the number of people suffering from flu-like symptoms.

The H1H1 flu outbreak is provincewide and it’s expected to hit communities all across Manitoba. However, most cases of the virus are reported as being mild and hospitalization has not been required, for the most part. The majority of the cases are in people of Aboriginal descent.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has provided three epidemiologists to Manitoba to assist in assessing Manitoba’s cases of influenza-like illness.

To date, there are 40 confirmed cases of H1N1 in Manitoba.
