A mandatory bicycle helmet law was curbed in the Manitoba Legislature on Tuesday. The private members bill had the support of Inkster MLA Kevin Lamoureux, who felt Manitoba should follow the lead of several other Canadian provinces to make wearing a helmet mandatory.
An education campaign making cyclists aware of the dangers of not wearing a helmet would be better off, said Healthy Living Minister Kerri Irvin-Ross.
Lamoureux said he would be back to raise the issue again.
