Warmer Winnipeg Weather Means Bullets, Beatings and Brawls

June 15, 2009 6:02 AM | Columns

You know it’s getting nice outside when people start hurting each other uncontrollably on the weekend. Like Friday night leading into Saturday for example — emergency personnel were extremely busy, with resources being stretched to the max.

In the span of 24 hours…

    Winnipeg Police

  • 24-year-old male was shot
  • Three men were attacked in an Arlington bar brawl
  • Drive-by shooting; bullets rattle a home
  • Woman was beaten in a back lane
  • Three separate shootings in the span of six hours
  • Two men shot in the North End, one of them dies

Could you say we have a bit of a crime problem? Word is that this is just the beginning of a very busy summer for police and paramedics.
