City Launches Mobile Speak Up Squad

June 23, 2009 10:20 AM | News

Speak Up WinnipegAs part of the City’s SpeakUpWinnipeg initiative, Mayor Sam Katz launched a new mobile team called the “Speak Up Squad” today. The team will gauge public input from Winnipeggers beginning in July on what’s working, what isn’t, what has to change, and how we should get started making these changes to better our city.

“If our plan for the city’s future is going to be called Our Winnipeg, we have to earn that title by truly engaging people,” said Mayor Katz. He went on to say, “We have an interactive website, and we’re holding public meetings and workshops.  Now, the Speak Up Squad will give people a chance to take part in the process as they’re going about their ordinary summer activities.”

The eight member team will appear at several events across Winnipeg during July and August to take notes from citizens, help people post to SpeakUpWinnipeg.com, and even take video of citizen comments. To find out when you can “speak up” to the squad, a schedule of events will be posted on their website.
