Goldeyes Sending Nine Players to All-Star Game

Winnipeg GoldeyesThe Winnipeg Goldeyes will be sending quite a few players to Joliet next week for the Northern League All-Star Game. Having had the best record since opening day, the Fish will be represented by nine players when they play on the Great Plains Squad on July 7.

Kansas City manager Andy McCauley will be who the Goldeyes answer to, along with nine players from Fargo-Moorhead and four from Kansas City to face players from Gary, Joliet and Schaumburg that will be managed by Joliet’s Wally Backman.

Pitchers Aaron Odom, Ace Walker, Bear Bay and Matt Davis along with second baseman Josh Asanovich, shortstop Wes Long, outfielder Dee Brown, catcher Dustin Richardson and designated hitter Juan Diaz will represent the Great Plains squad.

Only Davis and Diaz have NL All-Star Game experience. Davis represented Winnipeg in 2007 and Diaz represented Joliet during the same year.

The opposing team, called the Great Lakes squad, will have its roster announced later today.
