Goldeyes Open Summer Skills Camp

Winnipeg GoldeyesAs nine of the Winnipeg Goldeyes get set down south for the all-star game, 10 members of the team will be hanging around Canwest Park this afternoon. It’s all for the annual Summer Skills Camp, which will see more than 120 boys and girl take to the field from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today.

Participants will be put through the paces by players and members of the coaching staff.

Goldeyes manager Rick Forney will oversee the camp and be joined by coach Rudy Arias along with pitchers Zach Baldwin, Chris Homer and Mark Michael and position players Kurt Crowell, Adam Frost, Brent Metheny, Cory Patton and Kevin West.

Registration is at 12:30 p.m., with light stretching beginning at 1 p.m., followed by seven skills areas the kids will be rotated through.

The league-leading Goldeyes are back in action Friday when they host Gary to open a three-game set. Game time is 7 p.m.
