Gas prices are expected to drop this summer, according to a senior petroleum adviser for En-Pro International Inc. who spoke with The Canadian Press on Tuesday.
The average price in Canada right now is 98.7 cents per litre. That seems like a bargain to what Canadians were paying at this time last year — $1.40 per litre.
Prices are expected to drop due to a shrinking demand for gasoline in general. More vacationers are staying closer to home this year due to the recession.
Motorists can’t seem to win — travellers who were planning a trip last year were paying through the nose at the pump and when they decide to stay put, prices go down.
