209 teams will take part in the 2009 Coors Light Super-Spike event this weekend. That number is an increase of 37 teams from last year.
Over 500 games will be played between Saturday and Sunday at Maple Grove Rugby Park, making it Manitoba’s largest volleyball tournament in history.
This year marks the eighth annual edition of the tournament, which is set in a festival-like atmosphere with performing acts Default, The Ending and Tele.
Tournament games will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, with bands hitting the main stage from 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Saturday’s games will begin at 11:00 a.m., and will continue through to approximately 8:30 p.m. Bands will begin performing on the main stage at 2:00 p.m. through to 11:00 p.m. Red Bull will be hosting a ‘Beach Party’ to close out the event after the concerts are done.
Weekend passes are available at Ticketmaster for $25.00 for non-tournament participants.

UPDATE: A few readers have inquired if we will be covering this event. Unfortunately, we did not get accreditation from organizers. Perhaps next year.
