Goldeyes Sign Relief Pitcher Huizinga

Winnipeg GoldeyesThe Winnipeg Goldeyes roster is officially full for the first time since June 27.

The team announced today the signing of relief pitcher Jon Huizinga.

Huizinga, 29, came in from a trade with Calgary of the Golden League. In 21 games for the Vipers, he was 1-1 with five saves and a 5.29 ERA. He’s currently in Kansas City with the Goldeyes and will start on the field tonight against the T-Bones.

Huizinga is familiar with Winnipeg, as he played for the Vipers in 2006 when the team was part of the Northern League.

The Goldeyes return home next Tuesday to open a six-game homestand at Canwest Park.
