After the last week on the road, the Winnipeg Goldeyes return home tonight for a six-game homestand at Canwest Park. The action begins at 7 p.m. when our boys take on Joliet the first three nights before welcoming Schaumburg on Friday thru Sunday.
Tonight’s game is part of Luau night, so break out that Hawaiian shirt you’re too embarrassed to wear anywhere else. The game will also be followed by a magnificent fireworks display. Not too shabby to help kick off the shortened work week.
Meanwhile, there was news coming out of the Northern League on Monday that a new team will be added to the 2010 season, in addition to the already-announced Lake County Fielders of Zion, Illinois. The Illinois-based Rockford RiverHawks — previously members of the Frontier League since 2002 — will be a new opponent for the Goldeyes come next season.
UPDATE: 12:28 p.m. — The Goldeyes announced today the signing of southpaw Bill Pulsipher, who began the season with Puebla of the Mexican League. With that signing, the team let go Jon Huizinga — which they signed just last week — to Schaumburg for future considerations.
