Things could get interesting this weekend at Assiniboia Downs, as the race for a second title heats up.
24-year-old Larren Delorme is the youngest jockey since 1988 to capture a leading jockey title — even beating out the famed Alan Cuthbertson and other senior jockeys.
Delorme leads with 78 wins, but the question on everyone’s mind is who will sit next to him? Tyrone Nelson is currently at 43 wins, with Cuthbertson a single win away at 42.
Vicky Baze — who has only been riding for five weeks — could be fortunate enough to land in the top three if she continues at the pace she is on. Baze has been averaging about six wins per weekend at the Downs.
