Manitoba Homecoming 2010

Manitoba could make its way into the record books if enough people come out to what organizers hope is the world’s largest social.

It’s all part of Manitoba Homecoming 2010, a year-long celebration in honour of the province’s 140th birthday. An application has been filed with the Guinness Book of World Records to make sure the event counts.

The exact plan is to link a series of socials all across Manitoba happening at the same time. Destination Winnipeg, the Homecoming committee and Travel Manitoba are behind the push.

The province expects the festivities to pump about $30 million into the economy with at least 50,000 visitors attending the celebrations.
