The St. Boniface Hospital opened a new emergency triage, registration and waiting room area earlier this morning.

Manitoba Health and the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority funded the $645,000 renovation, which will increase the flow of patients in and out of the hospital.

The renovations which open today included creating additional space, relocating washrooms and redesigning the work space to allow nurses, registration clerks and security to have a full view of everyone in the waiting room.

New bathroom facilities will be the final stage of the reno, and are expected to be completed by November.

Meanwhile, the new Thompson Children’s Allergy and Asthma Centre opened at Children’s Hospital earlier today. The 4,300 square-foot facility will assist an additional 300 families each year with specialized asthma education programs.
