The public education campaign to make drivers aware of the new law banning cell phone use and texting while driving in Manitoba will begin today.
The new legislation was announced months ago, but will only be made into law during the first half of 2010. The law will also place a ban on smoking in a vehicle when children under the age of 16 are present.
The public information campaign will give motorists the details they need to amend their habits before the ban is put into place. Items such as hands-free calling devices and Bluetooth accessories will be part of the information passed along to motorists.
