American Girls Homeless DollIn keeping up with the slumping economy and the fact that more Americans are homeless now than ever, the American Girls brand has come out with “Gwen,” a child’s doll who’s advertised as being homeless.

The doll doesn’t come cheap either, debuting with a $95 price tag.

According to CBS News, there are between 7,000 and 10,000 homeless children in Los Angeles, where their reporter asked people’s opinions on the new doll.

There was some confusion over whether the proceeds from the doll were actually going to charities that assist homeless people, but the manufacturer said that is not the case. Advocates of the city’s homeless were not impressed with the new item and find it to be extremely distasteful.
