UPDATE: The strike is on.
3,000 unionized Manitoba Hydro employees could walk off the job as early as tonight.
Union members rejected the latest contract offer from the utility on Wednesday night.
Hydro says if workers strike and power happens to be disrupted, they will hope that a mandatory service agreement with the union is honoured to assist customers.
If a strike occurs, it would be the first in Hydro’s 48-year history.
