Students and staff from Weston School will urge the provincial government on October 7 to ban plastic bags in Manitoba. The initiative follows the success of a one-day event on September 12, in which 45,000 plastic bags were collected from Winnipeg residents during Plastic Bag Day.
Spearheaded by city resident Don Woodstock, approximately 60 students will gather in the gallery at the Legislative Building at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Woodstock encourages the public to come down to show support, and says the elimination of plastic bags would make for a more sustainable environment for all.
