Two Manitoba RCMP officers have been charged with impaired driving following two separate incidents.
The first incident occurred on September 29 when the RCMP Nelson Detachment were on their way to respond to a disturbance call on Nelson House First Nation. A Jeep coming out of a dirt trail nearly collided with a RCMP police truck. The driver of the Jeep was identified as Constable Darcy Stevenson. He was arrested and an investigation is underway.
The second occurred during the early morning hours of October 2 in Thompson, when a pick up truck crossed the center line and collided with a northbound local taxi cab on Cree Road. No one was injured. Constable Dana Randall, an off-duty member of the Thompson Detachment, was arrested and charged with impaired driving and not providing a breath sample.
Both officers have been removed from active operational duties pending internal reviews.
