Kitchener Rangers defenceman Ben Fanelli was hospitalized Friday after suffering a severe hit at the hands of Michael Liambas of the Erie Otters.

The 16-year-old suffered scull and facial fractures when his head slammed into the glass sending his helmet flying off.

Liambas has been suspended indefinitely.
