The Manitoba Bisons men’s basketball team picked up a win over their crosstown rivals on Saturday night at the Investors Group Athletic Centre.
Led by Nathan Dixon, who had a game high six three-pointers in the game, propelled him to a 32-point night. Eric Garcia was the second leading scorer for the Bisons with 17, including going a perfect four for four from beyond the arc.
The Bisons took the game 92-79 over the Winnipeg Wesmen.
The Bison men’s team will head to Lethbridge next weekend, while the Wesmen host the Brandon Bobcats.
In women’s action, Manitoba also dominated the Wesmen on home court.
Four Bisons’ players scored in double-digits, including Kayla Klassen, who led the game with 19 points. Mubo Ilelaboye chipped in with 15, Kait Flett had 13, while Michele Hynes picked up 12. On the Wesmen side, Amy Ogidan scored 13 points to lead her team, followed closely by Randie Gibson, who battled her way to 12 points.
The game finished off with a 67-57 win.
The Bison women travel to Lethbridge next weekend for a two-day trip, while the Wesmen host the Brandon Bobcats.
