This holiday season, five Winnipeg photographers are getting together to donate their time and services to some very deserving families.
The “Giving is Awesome” contest will launch December 1 and look for five local families most in need of some Christmas cheer. Paper doll Photography, Peekaboo Studio Photography, Artsy Fartsy Photography, Freckleface Photography and Karen Hunter Photography each pledge to donate $1,000 in custom portraits to families who simply cannot afford them.
Over $565,000 worth of artwork has been donated so far this year throughout the world as part of the initiative. That number is expected to double in 2010.
Winnipeggers are encouraged to nominate a deserving family by e-mailing givingisawesome@mts.net. Nominators could also receive a photo package worth $250.
The contest closes December 20, 2009, with the winners being announced Christmas Day.
