Winnipeg’s South End Water Pollution Control Centre was the subject of a $33 million investment Friday from all three levels of government.
“This investment in improving Winnipeg’s water quality will also create construction jobs and stimulate economic development, which have been the focus of this government,” said Premier Greg Selinger at an announcement at The Forks.
The project involves improvements to the existing centre to increase the plant’s capacity to deal with wastewater during peak periods — such as heavy rain storms — and protect the health of the Red River and Lake Winnipeg.
