To mark World AIDS Day on December 1, UNICEF Canada will host two events in Winnipeg next week.
The first being on Monday, November 30 with the HIV/AIDS Youth Conference at Balmoral Hall School. The all-day event begins at 9:15 a.m. and will feature speakers addressing a variety of topics, including Wendy Schettler of the International Centre for Infectious Diseases (ICID) and Tricia Schers (UNICEF Canada), who will speak about their partnership with the U of M and UNICEF Ukraine to develop a plan to reverse the spread of the disease in Ukraine.
The following day, Tuesday, December 1, UNICEF will host World AIDS Day Movie Night at the Park Threatre beginning at 7 p.m. The film will be “The Day My God Died, ” which is an unforgettable look at young girls in Bombay whose lives are shattered by the child sex trade. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door.
