Members of last season’s Winnipeg Goldeyes aren’t taking the winter off to rest up for the regular season.
Juan Diaz and Kevin West find themselves as opponents these days in Colombia. Diaz is batting .258 with a league-best six home runs while driving in a team-leading 17 runs.
West’s RBIs are good for fifth in the league while his average puts him eighth. Among his teammates familiar to Goldeyes fans is Antoin Gray, who played second base for Winnipeg in 2007 and 2008.
Outfielder Aharon Eggleston — the newest member of the Goldeyes — is on a Monteria squad with former Fish pitchers Cristian Mendoza (2008) and Manny Basilio (2007).
Pitcher Bill Pulsipher (2009) is also far away from chilly Winnipeg weather in Puerto Rico with Arecibo.
