Swimmer Sets New Record; Runner Raising Funds for Diabetes

U of M Bison swimmer Riley Pickerl is an all-star in the pool after setting a new Bison record last week in 400m freestyle (3:57.95). Pickerl returned to university recently after training with one of the best distance swimmers in the world, Ryan Cochrane, in Victoria over the past two years.

Coach Vlastimil Cerny is hoping for big things from Riley this weekend, as he competes in the Prairie Winter Meet, which runs from December 3-6.

In other Bison news, track and field athlete Adam Penner is helping raise awareness and funds for diabetes research. “Running for Erica” was inspired by a 9-year-old girl attending the daycare that Adam works at, who has type 1 diabetes. You can show your support by joining the Facebook group.
