Winnipeggers are a giving bunch, which has made the Winnipeg Humane Society benefit tremendously by the generous support this year.
The Humane Society is reporting its highest number of recorded volunteers and hours in its history.
Nearly 800 volunteers have logged over 31,000 hours so far in 2009. This resulted in an 8 to 1 staff to volunteer ratio.
Newly implemented programs and new volunteer positions as a result of their new shelter are contributed to the increase in support.
“Volunteers contribute directly to the success of our adoption matches,” said Kelle Roth, WHS Manager of Volunteer Services. “They not only help us put our donations towards the animals in our care, they bring inspiration and dedication to The WHS each and every day.”
On Sunday, the WHS will hold a holiday open house party, featuring a bake and craft sale from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend, but they ask that you leave your furry friends at home.
