Police Block Streets Investigating Gun Call

Winnipeg police had a number of streets blocked off Wednesday morning after reports of a gun call in the West End.

Police and members of the tactical support team were on Maryland Street between Ellice Avenue and Sargent Avenue at about 6 a.m.

Reports said a man barricaded himself in an apartment with a firearm and wouldn’t come out. Other residents in the building had been told to stay inside until the situation was resolved.

UPDATE: The standoff has ended peacefully, police say.
