Winnipeg School Choirs Singing Anthem at Olympic Torch Relay

2010 Olympic TorchTwo Winnipeg school choirs have been chosen to sing the national anthem when the Olympic Torch Relay comes to Winnipeg next month.

École Stanley Knowles and Montrose School choirs will sing “O Canada” at Winnipeg’s Olympic Torch Relay Celebration, Mayor Sam Katz said Thursday.

The choirs will sing at The Forks National Historic Site on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, beginning at 5:00 p.m.

School choirs from across the city competed for the honour by sending in video auditions.

Winnipeg’s Olympic Torch Relay celebration is part of the cross-Canada relay bringing the Olympic Flame to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C.
