In an effort to reduce up to 97,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas per year, the City of Winnipeg has expressed interest in receiving proposals for a landfill gas and resource recovery project at the Brady Road Landfill.
The city is looking for the successful bidder to start construction by September 1, 2010 and begin operating by early 2011. Bidders must design, build, operate and finance a project to collect and flare landfill gas for a 20 year term.
Landfill gas is a mixture of two greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide and methane.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) will close on February 26, 2010.
