3-Hour Radiothon Raising Support for Haiti Relief

January 18, 2010 6:54 AM | News

CJOB and a handful of other Corus Entertainment radio stations will work to raise money for Haiti earthquake relief efforts today during a 3-hour radiothon.

Operation Haiti will air from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. CT on radio stations in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Hamilton, London, Cornwall and Winnipeg. Four other non-Corus radio stations in Victoria, Kamloops, Kelowna and Wingham will also air the radiothon.

The ultimate goal is to raise money for the Canadian Red Cross.

Hosted by Charles Adler, listeners can call in their donations at 1-800-418-1111 or go online to RedCross.ca.

The federal government will match donations given by Canadians up to $50 million until February 12. However, at a news conference on Saturday, the government said the cap isn’t set in stone and will be reassessed depending on how generous Canadians are.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper joins Adler on the air after 3 p.m.
