A major overhaul of the Frank Kennedy Centre at the University of Manitoba was announced Wednesday.
Among the new bells and whistles will be a circuit training area for women, and a hot yoga room. Other features will include the conversion of a gymnastics room to a multipurpose gym; conversion of a racquetball court to a spinning room; expansion of the climbing wall; construction of family change rooms; and the addition of two basketball hoops to Gold Gym.
$240,000 of federal money is being pumped into the building, which houses the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management. The total cost of the project is $726,649, with upgrades expected to be completed by March 2011.
Western Economic Diversification’s RInC program is an infrastructure fund that is investing $500 million in recreational facilities across Canada over a two-year period.
