MTS Expanding Wireless Service in Rural Manitoba

January 28, 2010 9:28 AM | News

Eight rural Manitoba communities will soon see a boost in their cell phone signals, thanks to MTS expanding its CDMA wireless network.

MTS Allstream said Thursday new wireless service will be provided to Churchill, Split Lake, Oxford House, Snow Lake, Bisset, Middlebro, Ebb and Flow, and Fisher River.

The company is spending $2 million on the expansion, which will allow customers in those communities to make phone calls, check e-mail and browse the Internet.

Work is already underway on the upgrade in several locations, and MTS hopes to have service up and running in all areas by the first half of 2010.
