In anticipation for the Olympics in under a week from now, the Winnipeg Folk Festival is hosting the Winnipeg tour stop of the Vancouver 2010 Cultural Olympiad Tour: An evening with Spring Breakup and John Wort Hannam.
Spring Breakup is comprised of Yukon singer-songwriter Kim Barlow and Mathias Kom, singer and songwriter for Ontario folk-orchestra The Burning Hell.
John Wort Hannam is the 2009 Grand Prize Winner of the Calgary Folk Music Festival Songwriting Competition and a former grade 9 language arts teacher on the largest reserve in Canada — the Kainai Nation.
The show goes down Wednesday, February 10 at 8 p.m. at the Folk Festival Exchange. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door.
Other acts are slated for the various stops throughout Canada leading up to the games.
