Russian national flag hoisted in Vancouver s Olympic Village
Flags of the participating states of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics are hung in Central Square of the Olympic Village Thursday.

With only one day to go until the Opening Ceremonies, speculation is swirling over who will light the Olympic cauldron. Olympic blogs and websites have been vocal over who should and shouldn’t get the honour.

Among the popular contenders are names like Wayne Gretzky, Michael J. Fox and Nancy Greene. We won’t know until the last minute, as organizers are keeping a tight lid on the identity of the last torchbearer.

Olympic coverage begins Friday at 8 a.m. CT on CTV until 5 p.m. highlighting the Torch Relay’s journey up until now. Coverage will break at 5 p.m. for local news and then pick up at 6 p.m. leading into the Opening Ceremonies.
