The phone hasn’t stopped ringing at Winnipeg-based Frontiers North Adventures after being featured on NBC Monday night.

The Manitoba tour operator was part of the network’s Winter Olympic coverage highlighting Frontiers North’s Tundra Buggy Adventure in Churchill.

Over 20 million viewers watched the U.S. television network’s Olympic coverage Monday night, driving thousands of people to Frontiers North’s websites after the segment showcased the company and the non-profit organization, Polar Bears International (PBI).

Watch:

“There was so much traffic to frontiersnorth.com and tundrabuggy.com from the United States and Canada that our web servers crashed for a short period of time,” said Jaime Dzikowski, Marketing Manager of Frontiers North Adventures. “Our Adventure Planners are also very busy … with new inquiries for our Tundra Buggy adventures.”

NBC sportscaster Mary Carillo made the trek to Churchill this past autumn for her story, which touched on the plight of the polar bear. The first video segment aired Monday night and a second Churchill installment is scheduled for Thursday, which is expected to highlight Isobel, a blind Siberian husky-malamute cross snow dog.
