The State of the City address in January ended up raising a large sum for local charities.
The Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce put on the event, as Mayor Sam Katz delivered the address for the 6th year in a row.
50 percent of the proceeds from the 1,000 business leaders who attended generated $21,000 for Agape Table and Osborne House. On Friday, the Chamber and MTS presented both charities with a cheque of $10,500 each.
In 2009, the State of the City address raised $20,000 for the Children’s Rehabilitation Foundation, Siloam Mission, and New Life Ministries.
From 2007-2008, the Mayor and Chamber raised $8,500 for New Life Ministries, which went to fund the organization led by the late Rev. Harry Lehotsky.
